To find your warranty expiration date, start from the date coverage began and add the warranty length from your terms. Use the calculator to estimate it, then confirm against the manufacturer's warranty.

To find your warranty expiration date, start from the date coverage began and add the warranty length stated in the written warranty. Coverage usually starts at purchase, but not always, so check your terms. For example, a 2-year warranty that starts on January 3, 2027 expires on January 3, 2029. Use the calculator below to estimate your date, then confirm it against the manufacturer's actual terms.

Enter when coverage started and how long the warranty lasts. The result is an estimate. Your written warranty terms are what actually control your coverage.
Warranties don't always start on the purchase date, so check your terms.
Enter a purchase date and a warranty length to see the estimated expiry.
This is an estimate based on the dates you entered. Your actual coverage is set by the manufacturer's written warranty terms, which may start, pause, or end differently.

Where warranty coverage actually starts
Don't assume every warranty starts on the day you paid. Depending on the written terms, the clock can start from:
- Purchase. The most common starting point.
- Delivery. Common for furniture, appliances, and anything shipped.
- Activation. Common for phones and some electronics.
- Installation. Common for built-in appliances, HVAC, and fixtures.
- Registration. Occasionally, or registration may extend the length.
This is why the calculator asks what the start date represents. If your terms start coverage from delivery or installation, use that date, not the purchase date, for an accurate estimate.
How to find the real dates
- Find your start date. Check the receipt, order confirmation, delivery note, or your email. If the receipt has faded, look in the retailer's order history. No receipt at all? See what counts as proof of purchase.
- Read the warranty length. It's on the warranty card or booklet, the product page, or the manufacturer's support site. Note whether it's quoted in months or years, and whether any part has a different (often longer) term.
- Use the manufacturer's warranty lookup if they offer one. Many brands let you check status by serial number, and that reflects their own records, which beat any estimate.
- Watch for conditions that change the date. Registering the product, or a separately purchased protection plan, can extend coverage. Some terms also require proof or set different windows for parts versus labor.
How to check if a product is still under warranty
Compare today's date with the expiration date you worked out. If you're inside the window, you're likely still covered for qualifying issues. If you're past it, coverage has probably ended, though manufacturers must still finish repairs they were already obligated to make. When in doubt, the manufacturer's own serial-number lookup is the most reliable check.
Save the expiry date and get reminded before it passes. Slipcrate keeps each product's warranty date with its receipt and can add a reminder to your Google Calendar before coverage ends, so you don't find out a warranty expired the week after it did.
FAQs
How do I know when my warranty expires? Add the warranty length from your terms to the date coverage began. Confirm with the manufacturer's warranty-status lookup if they offer one.
Does the warranty start on the purchase or the delivery date? It depends on the terms. Many start at purchase, but appliances and shipped items often start at delivery or installation. Use whichever date the warranty specifies.
Is "warranty expiry date" the same as "warranty expiration date"? Yes. They mean the same thing: the day the coverage period ends.
Keeping track of one expiry date is easy. Keeping track of a whole household's worth isn't. A warranty tracker stores every date in one place and reminds you before each one lapses.
